“May Your way be made known on the earth, Your saving power among all nations.”

~Psalm 67:2

Hi, I’m Bekah and I’m glad you’re here!

About Me – How did I get here?

I grew up in Athens, Georgia and love that it’s the place I still get to call home! In December of 2017, I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Services Delivery and Administration (HSDA) from the University of North Georgia. When I knew I’d want to go on and pursue a counseling degree, I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina and worked toward my Masters in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In December of 2022, I graduated from Southeastern, and moved back to Georgia.

I currently attend the same church I grew up going to, Prince Avenue Baptist Church, and as the Lord would have it, it is the same place that would become my sending church many years later! What a sweet thread the Lord has allowed to continue in my life! As I pursue my call to overseas missions, I am excited to leverage my counseling degree as a way to strengthen the church in London and reach people for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thanks for being here!

My Call To Missions

In my senior year of high school, I remember hearing the Lord distinctly telling me we were going to do something great together—that if I trusted Him, He’d provide the people and path I needed. That call led me to change my major in college and sparked a dream of one day living overseas in England. With guidance from mentors, I dove into opportunities to serve, lead, and learn more about missions.

To test the call, I spent a summer in Southeast Asia, where I gained the confidence and clarity to live cross-culturally. Though I was placed in a vastly different setting, I kept asking the Lord if England was still the call. And He said yes. From there, I earned a Psychology degree from the University of North Georgia, I pursued a Master’s in Biblical Counseling at Southeastern Seminary, which I completed in December 2022, and I began working in a church setting to try out ministry life. Spoiler: I loved it.

Since then, I’ve been prayerfully discerning what opportunity to pursue. I explored several opportunities to discern where the Lord wanted me, and through that time the Lord led me toward one that fit best of all–Selhurst Evangelical Church in south London. My role is to join alongside the church in a counseling capacity. I plan to use counseling evangelistically, to help members learn the power of bearing burdens alongside one another, and to train others to do this work!

Beliefs

As a biblical counselor, I believe it’s important for clients and colleagues to know what statements of faith have had an influence on my training. Though I do not see these statements as ultimate authority, holding that space for the Word of God, I do think it could be helpful to let you in on what has helped shape my theology and hermeneutics as I seek to counsel well and holistically.

My Counseling Philosophy

My background and training in counseling can be described as integrated. Since all truth is only true because Christ first says it is, I rely on both the truth of the gospel and the truth found in secular theory that aligns with the Bible. In my education, we were trained to tease apart secular theory and explore where they find their truth inside God’s Word. I have found this to be extremely rewarding as I seek to counsel people from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs and help guide them toward Christ and His Word. To be clear (or redundant), I do not follow a strict nouthetic counseling perspective, nor do I adhere to a strictly secular theory perspective, but rather, I seek to find a way for these two to find their congruence in the truth of Scripture and where the Holy Spirit leads them to align.

Explaining my Logo

The creation of my logo has been a special project to tackle. I knew I wanted my initials at the center for it to be clear who is being sent, and obviously, to be representative of the site people were navigating to, but I also wanted something that told a story. The lavender sprig is one of the most versatile plants in the world and I love that its many uses cause it to be accessible and enjoyed by so many. The five dots represent God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, myself, all of you who are partnering with me as I go to London! I wanted something that incorporated you all and this was a way to take you with me. Thank you for being part of it and joining me on this journey.

Thank You!

I want to thank you for taking time to learn about what God is doing in my life, and the lives of those in London. I want to encourage you once again to get involved in any way you feel led.
